The role involves building close relationships with customers, ensuring regular meetings, and overseeing the development of digital roadmaps for individual customers to increase revenue, project work, and partnerships. Additionally, the role includes developing and nurturing partner relationships to enhance the company’s overall commercial performance and setting up commercial practices for growth and scale.
The Head of Sales is also responsible for assisting in deal structure, pricing, and ensuring that deal practices are approved, documented, optimized, communicated, and adhered to in support of operational and sales objectives, while aligning with company policies and processes
The role will have further scope to be involved in M&A develop into Sales Director in the future.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Setting our commercial strategy – driving business performance and growth by applying new, industry-leading thinking.
- Analysing sales, marketing, finance, and other data to gain insights into how to improve performance and maximise growth.
- Developing accurate and consistent deals and bids across the group.
- Maintaining sustainable and commercially strong relationships with suppliers, vendors and partners.
- Managing contract negotiations and building our commercial acumen.
- Tactical plans for selling our IT and UC products and services, built on in-depth knowledge of both the technologies and the sales process.
- People management and leadership, including coaching and mentoring for part of the Sales and Commercial team
- Work closely with the account management and sales team by assisting them on customer meetings and ensuring digital roadmaps are being developed for each customer.
- Provide mentoring and sales training to ensure enhanced performance and that KPI’s are met
- Ensure development plans are in place and followed by the IT account management team to follow the company’s vision
- Analyse sales performance of the team and that targets are consistently met
- Analyse the company’s commercial performance and find opportunities to optimise margins
- Identify opportunities to expand the business, including through partnerships, mergers and new markets
- Assess risks involved with new initiatives, ensure deadlines are met and be ready to handle unexpected situations
- Manage daily operations, contract negotiations and production planning
- Create and analyse sales, marketing, finance and other reports to gain insights into how to improve performance and maximise growth on an individual, team, entity and group level
- Oversee and manage Out Of Contract targets with strategic planning to ensure a consistent level
- Develop accurate and consistent bids with the help of relevant departments
- Check partner commission payments agree to the contract in place and query any shortfall.
Skills and Experience required as Head of Sales
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree is required
- Hands on commercial experience in a telecoms/IT business
- Management experience of sales teams
- Experience working with multiple levels of management and colleagues
- Highly efficient in operating Excel
- Proven skills in negotiation, analysis, logic, problem-solving, crisis management, and leadership
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; solid organizational and interpersonal skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, projects, and relationships
- High detail-oriented and motivated
- Strong business judgment and excellent presentation skills showing clear analysis
