Redsquid Raise Money for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care with Charity Quiz

Redsquid continue to support local charities, as they pull off yet another successful fundraising event and collect over £1122 for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care.

Our charity committee were looking for new ways to encourage people to donate money and volunteer their time to helping those in need, and decided that an annual quiz night would be perfect. They chose Cherry Lodge Cancer Care as charities dedicated to supporting cancer patients were the most suggested by the Redsquid team, and it’s based locally.  They contacted Cherry Lodge, who promised to dedicate all donations to helping ease the burden that cancer patients face. Since the charity quiz was so successful, we’re intending to plan some more fundraising and volunteering events in the near future.

The quiz was held at Borehamwood’s local Toby Carvery pub, after arrangements were made with the company staff to host it at no cost. The winners’ prizes (tickets to a comedy club in London) and many of the prizes featured in the evening’s charity raffle, were given to Redsquid for this event completely free of charge.

We wanted to thank all the businesses who so generously donated them:

Thara Massage Barnet, for their £50 massage voucher.

HOB Salons Camden, for their gift card.

Junk Yard Golf, for two free golf rounds and drinks packages.

Toby Carvery at Borehamwood, for their free meal for 4.

Jump Elstree, for two free jump sessions.

Baskervilles Tea Shop at Palmers Green, for their free afternoon tea for two.

Backyard Comedy Club, for ten tickets to future comedy shows.

All these donations meant that every bit of money collected went to Cherry Lodge, with no expenses left outstanding.

We were joined on the night by people from local businesses, as well as members of the general Borehamwood public. Quizmaster Matt did a fantastic job planning the rounds and running the quiz, and congratulations to team Redsquid for winning! (we made sure that there were no underhanded tactics involved, don’t worry).

The enthusiastic response to the quiz, and the wonderful sum of money we raised, has bolstered the charity committee into action: ‘The success of the quiz has made us really confident about the future of Redsquid’s charity projects.’ They’ll be planning another charity quiz for next year, as well as other events over the next few months. Check back with the Redsquid blog for new updates.
